1. How has the use of hearing aids benefitted you? How has your daily life improved from the use of hearing aids?

The use of hearing aids makes the difference between a social life and a lonely life.  My daily life is considerably improved, and of course, my husband is grateful for my hearing aids.  Needing to repeat everything two or three times or more on a daily basis can become quite a source of frustration.

2. What is your favorite feature of your hearing aids?

My favorite feature is difficult to answer.  Over and above the fact that my hearing aids enhance my life immensely, the remote controlled volume piece works well for me.  I have sensitive ears, and I like the ability to choose when I wish to decrease the volume for moderately loud sounds and occasionally to increase the volume.

Absolutely, I would recommend ENT Specialists, PC to friends and family.

4. What do you consider to be the most valuable aspect of your experience with us?

There have been several valuable aspects in my experience with Ken and Michelle.  When my husband and I had a five-week trip planned and I needed an emergency repair on one of my 6 1/2-year-old hearing aids, it meant so much to me that they were able to expedite the process by fitting me into the schedule, sending off the hearing aid for repair, and having it back in my hands in a matter of a few days.  Besides this quick turnaround, I was appreciative that Ken recognizes that there is still life in these old hearing aids.  On another occasion, there was a questionable charge from a repair that Michelle was able to quickly resolve for me.

5. If you’ve had experience with other hearing healthcare providers, what sets us apart from them?

I cannot honestly criticize my former hearing healthcare provider.  I really did not initially accept hearing aids and was very fortunate to have a patient and caring professional from day one.  For this reason, I have learned to love my hearing aids.  However, after my first provider moved to another city, the audiologist I saw in follow-up was not able to win my confidence at all.  Then, several friends encouraged me to try ENT Specialists.  The care I have received there has been nothing short of magnificent.

6. How were you treated by the staff of ENT Specialists, PC?

The ENT Specialists, PC staff has treated me very well.  Michelle is very efficient, she returns phone calls promptly and gets me into the office in a timely manner.  Every time I see Ken, I feel as if I have received an education.  He is an absolute encyclopedia of information.  I am always curious to hear about the latest technology, and I have yet to bring up a topic that he is not well versed in.

I’ve worn hearing aids since 1999, and I’m so excited to have the ReSound Pulse aids! They are incredible!

Within the first seconds of having them in, I could hear the clock ticking – something I hadn’t been able to hear for a long time.

Within the first day, I noticed that I would have to get used to small background noises again.  I also noticed my car radio was turned down by one or two notches, but I could hear it better than when it was at the louder setting I had it on just a few hours before.  Also, wind had become nearly a non-issue.

Within the first week, I experienced three situations that made me appreciate my “New Ears” even more!  The first one was in a restaurant with open ceilings and concrete floors.  With my old aids, the ability to hear conversation at my table didn’t make much of a difference.  With my “New Ears” I was able to hear parts of the conversations that other people at my table, (those without any hearing difficulty), couldn’t hear!

The second was also in a restaurant, this time with a soft spoken friend.  To my amazement and pleasure, the background noise was truly in the background, and I was able to hear my soft spoken friend better than I usually could in much quieter settings.

The third was an open house party with 30-40 people.  In the past, I wouldn’t have even worn my aids in that type of situation because it would not have been to any benefit. But, with my “New Ears,” it was totally different! The noise was never overwhelming or uncomfortable.  The comfort of the aids themselves is a new blessing.  I’ve not yet felt the need to take them out because they’ve become irritating.

It’s so great to be able to hear and not have to deal with a lot of adjustments or much awareness of the aids themselves.

The entire experience has been fantastic! From the great customer service to the genuine care that you get the best “fit” for your particular hearing needs, to the product itself.

Now I usually hear what is being said, so no more “what?” or misunderstanding what’s being said.

2. What is your favorite feature of your hearing aids?

How lightweight it is and how I can now hug people and not have my hearing aid give feedback.  I can now use the phone on the right side where the hearing aid goes!

Your Story

I had sinus infections for 20 years, finally had sinus surgery in 2008, and the result was a lot of damage to my right ear.  I couldn’t hear anyone who sat on my right side unless I turned my left ear toward them.  Finally, I bought a hearing aid, but hated wearing it. It felt like it plugged my ear, was heavy, my ear would sweat, and any breeze near my hearing aid, which cost $1500, was impossible to live with due to the feedback and racket. Eventually, I discontinued wearing it and consequently missed out on a lot of language.

I heard about Dr. Ken from another teacher friend who also wears hearing aids, but I never called.

Three years later, my daughter was seeing a physician at ENT Specialists. I went with her and recognized the logo and remembered the name Kenneth Stallons. I decided to finally go and see about my hearing loss once more.

Instantly I was fitted with this lightweight hearing aid! Oh my, what a difference! But the price…I was worried.  I had heard $5000 from my uncle.  When I was told $2000 and a payment plan was available with no interest…well, I left there with my new hearing aid in my right ear and the old one joined Dr. Ken’s other fat ones on his desk!

It’s still not perfect like your own hearing, but it is the best thing I’ve found.

I feel free to stop in anytime and get “tune ups” or ask questions.

I can’t remember how I came to know about your office.  I think I went to one of the doctors, and they recommended seeing Ken, and he showed me what he has in hearing aids, and I decided to get a set of them.  They were fine helping me hear so well.  I paid them off in 18 months (no interest), then I lost them and found that they were still in warranty and they were replaced.

I’ve had hearing aids now for 15 years, and I can’t imagine life without them.  Music, conversation, sounds of nature would all be muted or silent.

I remember hearing squawks from hearing aids in church and people saying their hearing aids drove them crazy when there were a lot of people around them talking because their voices were so amplified.  I was so pleasantly surprised to learn modern aids did not do that.

My kids have stopped telling me to get a hearing aid! They both were really “on my case” to get my hearing checked.  They have stopped pestering me now that I have my hearing aid!

2. What is your favorite feature of your hearing aids?

No one knows I have a hearing aid in my right ear.  Sometimes I even forget which ear it’s in.  Seriously, I do appreciate the fit.

Definitely! I have already done so, in fact!

The individuals who “treat” you — Ken, who is my audiologist, and Dr. Quinlan, who is my ENT.  Plus, the other staff who help me as needed — PA, nurse, front desk and audiology staff.

5. If you’ve had experience with other hearing healthcare providers, what sets us apart from them?

No experience with another audiologist, but I had been to many ENTs prior to Dr. Quinlan and NONE, I repeat NONE, of them listened or helped me with my ear problems.  They weren’t even kind or understanding!

6. How were you treated by the staff of ENT Specialists, PC?

The BEST!  Dr. Quinlan and his staff listen and care about you as an individual and as their patient.  When I finally went with getting a hearing aid and have my ears checked, etc, Ken was great — I couldn’t have hoped to have a better person help me get a better fit, explain all the details, etc.  Plus, the follow up has been excellent!

Your story:

I may be wrong but I think I lost hearing in my right ear because of all the troubles I’ve had flying over the years.  I have a perforated ear drum (right ear) and it’s just like a deep canyon.  Now, before I fly, I have “ear checks” plus Dr. Quinlan has given me several tips to help and ear planes are great!

I teach kindergartners and lead a women’s Bible study.  Both groups were becoming progressively difficult to understand.

I like being able to switch programs and tailor what I hear to the situation.

My hearing problems are extensive.  I am a teacher of small children; I am an organist and pianist and involved in several musical settings.  I also have narrow ear canals, one which makes fitting an aid difficult.
